What is the difference between 'blended-learning' and 'online' learning?
Blended-learning combines classroom (face-to-face) teaching with online study. You will complete all theory components online and then attend live practical workshops. However, with online learning, all of your qualification is completed online via our interactive online academy. You will have full tutor support via email. Please click on E-learning for further information on our online and blended-learning courses.
If I choose online learning what software do I need?
You will need access to a computer or laptop. You will need Adobe Flash Player® installed on your computer, which can be downloaded free of charge from the Adobe website. You will also need to ensure your computer has sound as some of the videos include audio.
Is an online qualification recognised to the same extent as a full-time qualification?
Will I be able to work as a Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer after doing an online course?
Yes, the online course gives you exactly the same career and work opportunities as any other course (either full-time or part-time).
If I choose online learning with SPC when does the course start?
Unlike schools, colleges and Universities, online learning has no term dates and is designed to be completely flexible for each student. As soon as you have been registered and received your e-learning login details, you can start your course and can then study at your own pace.
Is there a time limit to complete the course?
Our courses have a 1 year time limit for completion which will allow you to work at your own pace.
When will I receive my course materials?
Online students will receive login details via email to access course materials within 72 hours of receipt of payment. All other students will receive their course materials on the first day of the course. As soon as you receive your materials you may start your course.
What's included in the cost of the course?
All of our qualifications include course registration, certification, Learner Manual and initial exam fees. Theory paper re-sits and Practical Assessment re-sits will incur additional charges. After one year, if you have not completed your course and wish to re-register, a fee of £150 will be payable.
What if I live outside of the UK?
You are still able to enrol and study for any of our qualifications. Our overseas students often prefer the online option as it is a faster and more convenient way to study and get work assessed. Please contact email@example.com to discuss your individual needs.
What is an approved centre?
An approved centre is a training organisation (e.g., school, college, University, commercial training provider or work-based organisation) that has been granted approval by the awarding body/organisation (e.g., Active IQ) to deliver their qualifications. The approval process is designed to give learners the assurance that the awarding organisation/Active IQ is satisfied the training organisation has the staff, systems and procedures in place to deliver a positive and high-quality learning experience. Approved centres are monitored and supported by Active IQ to ensure that appropriate standards are consistently met.
Do Active IQ qualifications attract UCAS points?
All level 3 qualifications are entitled to be nominated into the new UCAS Tariff by relevant Higher Education Institutes. The Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Physical Activity, Fitness and Exercise Science has the following points attached to it and is also a Tech Level as designated by the Department for Education.
- Distinction: 48 points
- Merit: 32 points
- Pass: 16 points
However, the University or College you are considering applying to may accpet other Active IQ qualifications as an appropriate entry route, even if they don't currently attract UCAS Tariff points.
Are Active IQ qualifications internationally recognised?
Active IQ qualifications are recognised internationally across Europe (via the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)) as well as in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This is great news for those of you who want to work abroad.
Are National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) qualifications recognised in the UK fitness industry?
Yes all of NASM’s qualifications are accredited by Active IQ and recognised by REPs at Level 2 or 3.
Are NASM's qualifications internationally recognised?
NASM qualifications are recognised in countries that recognise the REPs register. These countries include the UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Europe. As a UK REPs member you will automatically be given EREPs status if you decide to work in some areas of Europe. The USA has no nationally recognised standard; therefore students who wish to look at the USA for employment will need proof of content for employment, although as NASM are one of the most prominent providers in the USA you would have a significant advantage when searching for employment.
